Reiki

Reiki literally translates from Japanese as ‘universal life-force energy.’ As a practice, Reiki is a gentle, relaxing, non-invasive, non-injurious channeling of this energy from the Practitioner to recipient, usually done by placing the hands over the body, sometimes lightly touching (i.e. head, hands, shoulders, feet). The channeled energy promotes peace of mind, emotions, and increases the ‘universal life-force energy’ within the body of the recipient. This increase in life-force energy stimulates the body’s own healing processes, and can help decrease pain, stress, and encourage faster recovery from illness and injury.

Dr. Mikao Usui, a Tendai Buddhist, rediscovered this healing practice in the late 19th century in Japan and felt it should be shared for the benefit of all.  He studied Japanese, Chinese and Western healing arts in his lifetime.

I am a Usui Reiki Master-Teacher and I incorporate the use of crystal singing bowls, drums, tuning forks, and other instruments in my reiki session to enhance your experience.

All sessions are prepaid at time of booking. Sessions available in person in Spotsylvania. Contact me for Zoom or in home appointment availability.

FAQs

What should I wear for a reiki session?

Loose, comfortable clothing is best. If you get cold easily I have a table warmer and you can wear layers. There will be pillows and blankets for your comfort so you can easily relax.

What should I expect in a reiki session?

You will recline, fully dressed and supported. I will play a singing bowl to clear the energy in the room before I connect with your guides through a brief meditation before we begin. I will hold my hands above each of your chakras and other areas of your body for several minutes before using my tuning fork to ensure the energy feels more balanced and even. I may play more singing bowls and slowly bring you back to reality when I am done. You may even fall asleep, waking up to feeling relaxed and restored. Everyone’s experience of reiki is different – some feel warmth, coolness, vibrations, see colors or maybe they notice nothing at all.

How many sessions will I need?

Some people find that having frequent reiki sessions brings them ongoing relief and support for their healing journey. However, others come in for their occasional “tune up” monthly or seasonally without having a specific issue to address. Reiki is a beneficial and restorative experience for anyone.

What is it like after a reiki treatment?

Many people find they are a bit spacey after a reiki treatment. It’s best to take it easy, rest, relax, go for a walk and avoid stressful situations. Drinking plenty of water will not only keep you hydrated but also allows any toxins released by the reiki session to be flushed from the body.
